PUBLIC STATEMENT
May 8, 2025
To the residents of Alberta and members of the Alberta Weather Network community,
We regret to inform you that a sign belonging to the Alberta Weather Network was found damaged on Sunday, May 4. After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident, we have identified an individual, Ayank Bhanuprakash, as responsible for the damage. If you remember the up to 2 days internet outage that happened sometime in September and the day when the Storm Prediction Centre went offline. If you go down and read it you may see the message : "most of these issues are because of our service provider Telus". As of March 23, 2025 we have completed our internet switch to ROGERS. So far we are experiencing no issues. If ROGERS does give us more issues than Telus we will switch back to Telus.

Due to a recent data breach of Discord and the fact that it is mainly used for socializing and not weather. NWAC has decided to permanently ban Discord from receiving weather service to ensure the safety of NWAC Customer Data and online bullying due to off topic concepts that would be posted in the Discord Server. We apologize for this short notice.

The Alberta Weather Network has issued an upgraded Stage 4 Snowfall Warning for the season. Due to ongoing atmospheric conditions, we are currently experiencing significantly below-average snow accumulation across the region. While conditions remain variable, the snowpack is expected to remain much thinner than normal, potentially leading to hazardous conditions in higher altitudes and remote areas. If below average seasonal snow continues past Jan 23, 2025 a emergency alert will be imminent. Please continue to check www.weathertost.com for the latest key updates.
Key Information:
Below-Average Snowfall: Forecasts indicate a continuation of reduced snow levels, far below seasonal norms.
Increased Risk: With this decrease in snow, the risk of dangerous ice, unpredictable avalanches, and travel disruptions has risen.
Prepare Accordingly: Those planning outdoor activities in mountainous or snowy regions should exercise extreme caution, monitor weather updates regularly, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
Warnings: Stage 4, the second highest level of caution, means severe disruptions are possible. Stay informed and adjust plans to prioritize safety.
Stay safe and ensure you’re following the latest updates from local authorities and weather channels.

We have just noticed that this is NOT a service failure. Our SPC is closed as storm season has ended. If storms are to come there will still be severe warnings issued.
Alberta Weather Network 9/6/2024 AT 7:10 PM
Due to a adjustment failure of the IWEASA 22.0.0 The Alberta Storm Prediction Centre is offline and we are unable to collect the data and post in the website. ECCC Thunderstorm Outlooks, our backup system is also unable to forecast the data as the Prairie Storm Prediction Centre are moving to a new location. We are working on getting the service back on. We are expecting this service issue to be fixed by Sept 21. We apologize for the massive amount of service failures that have been occurring recently.
Most of our problems are because of our service provider Telus. We are now switching to ROGERS internet services and we will finish this switch by November or December.
